DENHAM SPRINGS, LA (WAFB) - Imagine waking up to bright orange spray paint on your home and your vehicle. Not only that, but the words painted refer to you and your family by names, attacking the color of your skin. It's happened to a family in Denham Springs.

"You should not have to walk out your home or have children walk out and see stuff like that," says Kathryn Kerst. Someone spray-painted words like "KKK" and the "N" word using in fluorescent orange paint. It's on trailers, on the streets, and even on Danielle Bates' car and truck. "I don't want my kids playing out here and all this going on," Bates says. Bates says her family is the only African American family in the trailer park. She says she was surprised when she saw one of her neighbors in particular out walking and ranting. "She was walking up and down the street. She had an axe handle, saying she didn't like n***** and she was gonna kill Obama and start with me."

Danielle Bates says she called the Livingston Parish Sheriff's Office to try and get something done. We checked with them and they told 9NEWS they couldn't find enough evidence to press charges, and said they aren't even sure if this is a hate crime. Meanwhile, the threats didn't just stay outside. Inside, Bates received a message on her phone. "Hey, I'm a neighbor of yours. I live right down the road and I wanted to tell you people to stop n*****ing around you stupid f***ing n***** or I'm gonna come over there and knock your n**** heads off. Thanks."

However, Danielle says what scares her most is the message, more will happen. "She put an X on a trailer that's burnt up, and then said, ‘More to come, KKK.' What if she torches my trailer? If you would cut us, we all bleed red. What does it matter if we're colored. It just hurts me." Now, the she that Bates continually referred to was questioned by detectives. However, the Livingston Parish Sheriff's Office says it does not have enough to make an arrest at this point. Meanwhile, Bates says she plans on looking for a new place to live as soon as possible.

This is not the first and it won’t be the last time we hear some shyt like this. I know sometimes it’s a matter of economics but for the life of me I do NOT understand why black folks continue to stay in these small towns surrounded by nothing but racist white folks.

The lady seemed surprised by her neighbor marching up and down the street with an axe handle. For the life of me, I don't know why she would've been. They live in a trailer park in Louisiana, uhhh duhhh!

Whats happening all over, is a lot of closet racist are getting fed up with all the perceived advancements, etc in social intermingling and race relations. Theres a man and woman of color representing one of the major parties in the states. Not only are Black people rattling chains, but Arabs are shaking tents, Hispanics are bouncing cars and all other kinds of crazy shyt is going on that was realistically unthinkable just 15 or 20 yrs ago. I don't care what any liberal minded, concessionist says, ya gotta remember, RACISM is one of the major building blocks on which this country was founded. You can cover it with mortar, paint and all kinds of crap, it aint going nowhere, its embedded too deep into the fabric of this country and the fabric of the people of this country, them and us!

You might be too young to remember, but when O J was acquitted, his ROCKINGHAM DRIVE neighbor said she wasn't aware there was any tension between Blacks and whites. Can you imagine what a sheltered existence this woman must've been living.
