The obvious answer is 'no'. But answering that question is putting the cart before the horse. Guilty people deserve to be found guilty... I hope we can agree on that.
And so now put yourself in the shoes of a defense lawyer. Your client tells you that he/she did the crime, but wants you to get him/her off the hook. It's now your job to see that justice is NOT served. Seems like something I might have trouble doing. ...dunno about the rest of you?

I am not a lawyer; however, I seriously considered being one at one point. It was a financial decision instead of an ethical one that had me decide against it, but I didn't give this topic much thought back then.
...now, are you going to answer?

Geez,I don’t want to get into a back and forth but my take on all this is much like the earlier comments. My job is to defend my client (guilty or innocent). If the accuser doesn’t have proof, he/she loses. Justice is served when the case is decided on the facts and evidence so sometimes the guilty will walk and the innocent go to jail. CC5k, you may not like it but that’s how our justice system works.

I know how the justice system works, but I'm going to have to disagree with you on this one. Justice is not served when the guilty get away and the innocent go to jail.

That's what happens when you don't have sufficient evidence to prove your case. Since you claim to know how the justice system works then you should know that

Or that's what happens when a jury is falsely persuaded.
A verdict reached by a jury does not necessarily equal justice. In other words, it's not a perfect system. Do you disagree with this?

I'd do what I got paid to do, when I start losing sleep then I'd find another profession. The system isn't and never will be perfect, because corruption abounds regardless of ones emotional stake in thier profession. Dude didn't say he was innocent, he's willing to live life w/o parole for his crime. BUT, his attorney didn't do the job he was paid to do... which in itself is a criminal act IMO.
