Brothers/sisters in love!

There was a recent BBC documentary that chronicled the lives of 4 couples. Now this wouldn't be anything for me to start a thread on were it not for the relationship of these couples. Three of them are blood brother and sister and one of them is a mother and son. Since this was a BBC documentary, you got to remember this didn't take place in the good ol U S of A, so don't go putting those moral limits and values on these people.

One of the couples, German I believe, had 4 kids. 2 of them suffering from a couple of undisclosed mental and physical abnormalities and the other 2 seemingly fine. I don't know if this had anything to do with the belief that if relatives reproduce anything can be expected in the off spring. The German authorities put the brother in jail for 2 yrs and took away the kids for awhile. When he was released they gave him another 17 mos because they had another child. This one was allowed to stay with her mother.

Is this whole scenario crazy as hell or what? One of the couples, from England I believe, said in defense of the German couple, the government had no right to interfere in anyone's private life and their choices were their own. I say this is the ultimate act of SELFISHNESS which many of us practice, to a lesser degree! What do you say?

Just a lil something for you liberals who say anyone has the right to fall in love with anyone. Breaking all racial, relilgious, and moral barriers, is okay as long as the heart makes the call, right!

you know what? i looked at that site and one of the questions on there was have you ever been attracted to a close relative and I'm not going to lie i got a first cousin that physically I'm attracted to but will it go beyond what I'm thinking in my head ....no

You know I applaud your honesty and candor because I think its normal somewhat. The only time it gets perverted is when it becomes a mental obsession and you act on it, or allow it to be acted on. Not to belabor the point, but does your cousin have any idea?

I've had a cousin come at me before. You wouldn't believe the things he said he wanted to do to me! And this ain't no fifth cousin neither. We grew up together. I just had to avoid his ass at family functions. Weirdo.

While I think the people profiled in this documentary are utterly disgusting, I agree with the notion that the government needs to mind it's own damn business.

In relation to this particular issue, you don't think this is government business? Wonder how common this would be if it weren't for the laws that govern it? The government doesn't say don't do it, but it does say there are penalties if you DO, right!

Nope. If two grown ass people want to have sex, that's their business. People have forgotten that the government is there to serve us, not police every little decision or action we make. Granted, this is another country, so maybe it is their business.

Don't mean to put nothing in yo mouth (quit it!), but are you saying "if two grown ass people want to have sex, (even if their related,) thats their business?" If you are then this could get very interesting. I'd even concede that the laws of the land have little or nothing to do with it. You wouldn't find something unnatural about it. I mean its those kinds of things that seperate us from the animals, or is it?!

Not many probably would say it, but I'd guess a lot have thought it at one time or another, but something keeps it from becoming an obsessive thought! Remember Tony Montana in "SCARFACE" and GINA. It wasn't just him, it was her too! But then those people are barbarians anyway so I suppose thats not a good example.

Dammit, Tuck! You're trying to start something. My first post reads, "While I think the people profiled in this documentary are utterly disgusting..." Now tell me you didn't see that? My point is even though I think it's repulsive, if they want to do it, they should be allowed to. Why not? Other than the kids suffering, but then again you have people who don't know they have some random gene mismatch, and the kid ends up with a rare disease.

Honestly, I can't say whether it's unnatural. I do know that it's unacceptable by societies standards. And understandably so. Without the stigmas, would it be normal to reproduce with family members?

The Proctors do it. Allegedly.

I mean hell, if we're supposed to buy the creation story from the bible, how in the hell did two people populate the entire planet without incest?

I would say follow that weird feeling in your gut. A few years ago I was personally tortured at a large family reunion meeting a lot of people I'd never met before or at least I hadn't seen 'em in ages! My close cousins and I kept asking each other, 'are you SURE he's related to us?'...'what about him....are you sure you're sure?!' LOL If I'da bumped into one of these brothas on the street and they woulda tried to holla?! Let me tell you, we woulda been poppin out white babies all over the place.

Again, I don't know where these morals come from. It just seems like the right thing to do. Or not do, rather.
