Morality issues!
|
|
I've never understood, from a moral point, how some people can take advantage of people by taking advantage of a terrible situation. I've seen people's possessions sitting on the street and in an opportune moment, like between moves, or something, people will come over and go through the folk's stuff like it aint nothing. If noone is left there to stand guard until the second trip, when the people come back, all, or most of their stuff will have magically disappeared. I know times are hard, but to dog someone out at that point in their life is just MORALLY WRONG!
I was talking about this with my neighbor the other day and he told me that when he was moving, he wasn't set out btw, he brought his appliances to the new home and left them on his back porch, in a fenced and gated backyard! He said when he came back with the next load, his stove, refrigerator, deep freezer, window units, etc were gone. And don't you dare say its his fault for not putting them in the house. Besides he didn't have the keys.
I'm reminded of those nature shows when the hyenas torment and distract the mother buffalo and take down the baby?
Perhaps its a sign of the times.

Not sure if it's so much a sign of the times. That kind of stuff has been going on forever. I believe what goes around comes around and the folks who took your neighbors stuff will be dealt with in some form.
Now, say you are driving down the highway and you see traffic stopped and folks out of there cars...you get out and see that they are picking up wads of cash money. Seems a brinks truck door came open and large amounts of money is blowing around the highway. You gonna pick some up and give it back or get as much as you can before the popo come?

I'd say" Baby grab that plastic bag on the floor in the back seat " and go for the mean green.

A sign of the times? You old people think everything is a sign of the times, and so did your grandparents.
Anyway, of course it's terrible to piss on someone when they're down. I don't think it's a good idea to try to work someone over when they're doing well either. The examples you gave look like the people were doing alright. A new move is always good.
As far as your neighbors appliance, I won't say it's his fault per se, but he could've exercised a little common sense. You just don't leave your ish unsecured outside if you want it.
It's just the world we live in. That's why I'm grateful to know about karma and the law of attraction. Those are my safeguards.

I would manuver my way around traffic and get on with my business. That way if I leave my appliances on my back porch, they'll be there when I get back.
Now, if someone were to come hand me a wad of cash from this truck, hell I don't know where it came from. Praise da lawd!

That's the truth. Folks like that are creatures of habbit, and sooner or later they'll get caught by one of the cc5k's in the world and then they'll come to severely regret it.

Take the above situation and add to the senerio that you actually witnessed a Brinks truck accident....money everywhere....would you be one of those folks to go see if the driver was ok or would you gather up as much as you could?

If it were your truck would the answer remain the same?

I was trying to get at that....it's not ok for folks to take the furniture from the neighbor but, it's ok to take the money even when you see the driver of the brinks truck on the scene.

My answer then of course would be different, but my actions might be the same.
