Let me drop a real topic up in heah! Pastor NOVELLA SMITH ARNOLD has proposed legislation to introduce condoms to inmates in the prison system. She says it would help stop the spread of aids/hiv by men being released and returning to society. I don't disagree with that at all, not one bit. BUT!, heres where I find any such proposed legislation absolutely ludicrous, WHAT THEY NEED CONDOMS FOR? Aren't they in jail/prison?

If those who have taken a sworn oath to do their duties as defined in their job description, actually did their jobs, Prison rapes, assaults, drug abuse, cigarette smoking, gang activities and other violations that take place in prison would have to show a dramatic decrease or be nonexistent! I think pastor Arnold should introduce legislation that holds the system more accountable for those who work within it and allow these violations to take place. Some say what about cases of consentual sex. If incarceration means you lose your basic human rights, then certainly you lose the right to sex also ..... of ANY kind! Our local jail is a smoke free facility. Visitors go through a metal detector and cigarettes are not allowed in the incarceration area, but it is not uncommon to see an inmate come to see his visitor with a lit cigarette in his mouth!

How do you really feel about the various points and angles expressed in this topic.

What about women in prison? Do they get condoms also?

In essence, if you issue condoms to prisoners for whatever reason, what is the system saying to the inmate, "WHEN YOU GET YOU SOME USE A CONDOM?"

I 100% agree w/ your point that the COs need to be in there doing their jobs. Will that really happen, though?

We have too many people coming out of these prisons infected and passing it through the community. How many women can resist that prison body? Little do they know that their hard ass thug's been laying up w/ another hard ass (hee hee) during his entire 5-10.

If they're going to do it, which they are, at least protect the community.

exactly that's like how we also feel about teen sex.we don't like the fact that they're doing it but if they choose to anyway at least be protected.let's decrease the aids statistic in our african american people.

Probably not, but shouldn't we expect it in every profession at every level? EVERYONE needs to expect a public servant to do his best or that public service should seek a career in private industry. You disagree with that? Police, doctors, lawyers, guards, pilots, cab drivers, pro athletes, teachers, restaurant employees and anyone else whose job it is to serve the public should be accountable to the standards of the job, not to the level of pay they chose to accept. They don't have to like anyone they serve, but if the job is to protect/serve, then don't you think thats what needs to be done? That compromising attitude is what has gotten us and this country into the shape its in today. We're going to have to "Stop accepting what is offered and Start expecting what is asked for!" NOPE, thats what I'm talking about! They aint gon do it if they're not allowed to do it. How 2 men gon have consentual sex in prison when sex supposedly is one of the priviledges you lose for being in there. The community needs to protect itself by holding people accountable to the standards of their profession! Would you agree?

yeah but the truth of the matter is that they are not going to catch every man in prison that is having some kind of sexual contact.you might as well protect those that are and not be ignorant to that fact.

Of course not. In fact I thought I just said I agree with you...not ten, not twenty, but one hundred percent.

Of course not, but shouldn't you expect them to? If you're straight and got locked up do you have the right to expect protection from the system? Or do you accept the fact that you did something wrong and got locked up, so if some bulldagger decides she wants to come into your cell and tap that ass, you gotta expect that.

Did you mean those that are not? But in any case, the fact is sex is a priviledge loss to incarceration. Lets just say you on lockdown and a close, near, dear, family member passes, you think you spose to be released for awhile to grieve with the family. I don't think so, you lose that right to! Its called paying restitution baby girl. IMO, there is no logical argument for public priviledges to be given to a convicted person. You can debate from the heart's pov all day, but you can't have cake and eat cake too!

i totally agree.but at the same time they get 3 square meals, work out facilities, educational benefits, etc...that's actually alot better than some living on the outside.i'm not saying it's right but hell if i know that when committing a crime that leads me to prison and the thought of some big bertha taking advantage of me that alone will keep me on the straight and narrow.something about prison has to appear bad....

Glad you said that, "given em up!" Nobody took em! What we the people need to do is STOP COMPROMISING! STOP CUTTING DEALS! STOP GIVING IN! STOP SELLING EVERYONE OUT BY SELLING YOURSELF OUT!(we are one of many. Everybody in the choir can't sing, but it takes everybody to make up the choir!) STOP TAKIN THE BULLSHYT! START HOLDING PEOPLE ACCOUNTABLE FOR THEIR ACTIONS OR LACK OF! How come people who call prison a second home don't mind committing crimes that will put them in prison? Shouldn't they be scared of prison life. How come people who've never been in prison try to live a life that keeps them out of prison? They're scared of prison life too right?

We got to go back to square one and change the mindset of an entire people. It can be done no matter what any hater might say or think! Look whats about to happen 2/17/09! Who ever would've thought we'd actually see BIG BROTHER in action! As you just said, we've got to, for our own survival, get things to "function as they're supposed to!" I know this might sound idyllic, but look what we've got as a result of what we did and look at how much of it we've compromised away, trying to get along! Not to be a harbinger of doom, but when things were this bad in the 1st earth age, GOD decided to wash his hands of the whole damn thang. He saved one family, NOAH's and destroyed the rest of the world with the flood. Now he could've changed everyones mindset with a wave of his hand, but he didn't. Guess he figured it'd be more economical to just start over. Perhaps that is what we have in the not too distant future.

Just look at whats going on around the world:

WALL STREET'S 7 billion dollar bail out.

War in the middle east

Pakistan has nuclear capabilities

N Korea is flexing and poising

We owe China. Of all people, we owe China

HIV/AIDS rampant

Giving condoms to prisoners

Unemployment, foreclosures, bankruptcies, kidnappings, crooks and crime.

The Democrats/Republicans say they've got the solutions. I'll leave it to them.
