Retirement was something to look forward to
Children were actually wanted
People tried to do their best on their jobs
An honest days work got you an honest wage
Employers actually cared about employees
It was rare to meet people named Carlos or Muhammad
Schools actually took pride in educating youth
Children could say and spell their names
Halloween was fun
You didn't have to wash your car after a rain
Neighbors knew, spoke to and cared about each other
Kids respected adults in speech and deed
