Maybe an easier question is who is "overrated".
I think Marcus Miller(jazz bassist)is underrated here in the states but, based on his tour dates over seas he is a god there.
Overrated=Keisha Coles
Underrated=Lalah Hathaway
Overrated=Rhiana
Underrated=Maysa
Overrated=Chris Boti
Underrated=Roy Hargrove
Overrated=Dave Koz
Underrated=Joshua Redman

Talib Kweli
I would say Mos Def, but he's got that acting/poetry slam hosting thing on lock... now if he can't get some brains between his ears regarding his choice of WOMAN, he'd be dangerous
KRS-1
dead prez
Paris (not just underrated, but scary)
Ledisi
Amel Lerrioux(sp)
for all her drama, Amy Winehouse's first CD gets no rec here, and IMO, its better than her grammy award winning current one...
Jill Scott
the Roots
Michele Lisette
i'm w/ bishop, post the OVERrated ones....

AMEL - love her voice. Got lumped into Neo-Soul only and never got mainstream airplay.
LEDISI - she starting to get some airplay on the adult market.
JILL SCOTT - hey, if they want to sleep on Jill Scott let'm. Girl is nice. Nice live show too.
THE ROOTS - IMO the came along when the gerneration they played to couldn't appreciate a group playing instruments. ?love is a beast on drums. Check him out on the Philidelphia Experiment. Yes, he can do the jazz thing too.
Good list Sista.
KRS-1....I love to hear him speak on issues. He and Chuck D need a talk show.
