Hey Tucker, I got your message concerning Black Folk Lore, however, I have to disagree with you. I don't believe Shine, the Signifying Monkey, or Dolemite qualify as mythological heros. They are no more that characters from x-rated poems and x-rated comedy routines i.e. Rudy Ray Moore, Pig Meat Markum (Here Come Da Judge) and Moms Mabley. They are not in the same category as John Henry who had some kind of social redeeming value. That would belike calling Richard Pryor's character "Mud Bone" a mythological hero.

Sup Tucker, just wanted to let you know that I read your thread concerning Black folk lore and Black mythological heros such as John Henry, and I responded to it. Unfortunately, I PMed Jaypee (because it is now missing) and he explained to me that it was probably lost due to the system going to a new server. I hope you can post it again, I found it most interesting.
