When was the last time you took a "family vacation?" You know with the spouse and kids? Where'd you go, what'd you do? Was it a disaster cause y'all had to spend a lot of time together? Was it wonderful getting to know each other and everybody again? When we were kids, my family did it every summer. Either my dad would take us all to see his brothers for a week every summer, or he'd take us to see my mother's family members for a week every summer. I always hated it, but in hindsight, it was one of the best times I ever had with my family.
Years ago I had an offer for a time share vacation. You know you go some place for a free weekend. You have to commit to give them a day for a tour during the 3 day vacation. My wife (girlfriend at the time) and I nearly went crazy. It was up in the woods, with little or no city comforts. I mean crickets and all! We survived that week end and many weekends since then. But when we've gone back to check on our investment, we always make it a point to take another couple with us. Nothing freaky, just good, clean, fun. Conversation, cards and stuff like that.
I was watching the bags under Clinton's eyes the other night and I thought about it, his first term, he didn't take a vacation to get some rest if nothing else. My dad had bags under his eyes too and I'm starting to get them under mine. I don't know if this vacation thing'll remove the bags, but it sure as hell won't hurt!
