Default 3 big pigs beggin

How about the big 3 automakers (FORD, G M, CHRYSLER) on capitol hill begging the congress for $50,000,000,000. They say they need it to retool their equipment so they can scale down their entire operation. According to them the banks inability to finance new cars is the cause of their impending collapse. I guess overpricing and overproducing aint got nothing to do with it! So far congress aint going for it.

FLASH:

regular here is $1.71 pg. Filled up the camry with $25.00

This ish boils my blood. They want to run all over consumers and champion capitalism, but then turn around and have their hands out asking for help. Pssh! What they need to do is continue in their capitalistic ways and play the game the way it's supposed to be played. No time outs! This is real life. Step your game up or go sit down. These double standards are the bane of our society. No consistency whatsoever.

yeah when i read the entire story , how in the world are you going to come there asking for help in jets?Come on now, it doesn't look like you're suffering that much if you can still all take seperate jets to reach one destination.

Well, if they actually do what the money is supposed to be for at least there will be people working, thus providing the ability to contribute to the tax base. I'd rather have the people working than robbing to survive. There is the smell of RAT in the mix. Look no further than the feeding frenzy over the $700 billion already being spent for unintended uses. All we can hope for is the jerks in Detroit start selling hybrid vehicles that are reliable, look good and don't cost an arm and a leg. They can make a Chevy Suburban get stellar fuel milage if they put their engineers mind to it and have the same sized vehicle to boot!

Don't be fooled either, the cost of gasoline will go right back to where it was. It's up to us to demand better use of the resources available to keep us from getting bitten my the same dog for the 4th, 5th and 6th time.

I just read your comment with clarity this evening Angela. Since these guys are the C E Os of the big 3 automakers I'd think theyd've gotten a little more sympathy if maybe they'd've CAR POOLED, or at least drove cars repping their companies!

Its sort of comical, it really is. ALL the politicians that were campaigning were saying by getting us out of the war in the middle east, we'd save a lot of lives and save a lot of money. President elect Obama has not taken office yet, we're still in the war and even talking about staying a little longer than at first anticipated and already the buzzards, crows and eagles have come out of everywhere to lay claim to any anticipated surplus of funds.

The banks and the economy just happen to get there first. Now comes the auto industry with a similar bail out request, unashamedly asking for a similar amount. These idiots didn't even have the common courtesy to drive the cars they make. I suppose the housing industry, medical research teams, education supporters, folks at BFRU, the NRA, the NFL, the NBA, SUG KNIGHT, the boy scouts, peewee baseball, MICHAEL JACKSON and every other entity that can see a good use to put all those excess ANTICIPATED funds to, will be right there, anxiously waiting their turns at the senate money trough.

Ah to be sinfully rich, shamefully broke and immorally rich again!

You said it! If they were earning record profits, I don't think they'd be offering to donate it to the government. It's a big time double standard.

i find it funny how when the REAL THIEVES from wall street came calling, the senators and congressfolx were INUNDATED w/ phone calls and emails from their CONSTITUENTS telling them NO!! but they went ahead and let Paulson (SUPA THIEF) punk them into giving them the $700b bailout....

now, management not withstanding, the one main manufacturing base that this country puts out is in trouble, and peeps are questioning it.... nevermind that the CONSTITUENTS are once again inundating their senators and congressman/woman w/ emails and phone calls, this time tellin them to give these guys the money....

When SUPATHIEF went to the hearings and tried to blame the current economy on the foreclosure fiasco, what makes these assholes think that if the big three have to file for bankruptcy, that foreclosures WILL GO DOWN??? THEY WON'T!!! you'll have an additional 3 MILLION MORE folx on the unemployment lines.... if the big three are going to do some cutting, it has to come out of MANAGEMENT!!! you can't blame the UNION WORKER for whats wrong....they just BUILD THE CARS.... they're not on the DESIGN TEAM, the same design team that continue to put out these gas guzzlin SUV's and pseudo luxury cars that folx don't really need....

THIS SHYT COMES DOWN TO UNION BUSTING AT THE WORST!!!

one of the CEO makes somewhere around $20 million a year.... WTF has he done to warrant making that much money a year? and here's the rub, did y'all know that the CEO's salaries are TAX DEDUCTIBLE?? I didn't know that....

From what I've heard(just heard on the news no research here) you're going to either pay the automakers now or pay later in some way/shape/form. I think all the bail out/handouts amounts to nothing more than big business trying to get one last gift out of the Gdubya administration. What's a few hundred billion dollar in debt gonna hurt. The country will be so far in debt you can't count it. Just in time to hand it over to the 1st "African American" president. lol

Man, fuck them jobs! That's the sorriest excuse I've ever heard. [Note: the ire of my post is not directed toward you personally, just the 'excuse'. I'm tired of hearing it.] How many jobs has the computer alone wiped out? You mean to tell me that you'd do without the technology that you're looking at right now just to save some damn jobs?! We're just supposed to stop the evolution of life for a damn job. Salvation of jobs is a poor excuse to keep these low lifes on the market. What they need like many have already said, is a complete revamping of everyone on top. If they can't come up with reliable, good running, sturdy, stylish cars like the foreigners seem to have no problem with, then screw them. That's the game they wanted to play. We can't continue to hold everyone in the class back because of 3 slow students.

It's called natural selection.

they can be retooled also. When the hi tech developments robbed a bunch of people of their jobs, ie computers, some smart person said "okay, the computer is a machine. machines break down. since i cant operate the machine, i'll go to a tech school and learn to fix it." Out with the old, in with the new!

might i add, consumer friendly and the #1 reason, AFFORDABLE!

This is an excellent analogy! It is a method that is practiced everyday in our school system. That should be the motto of the private school system, hell they pay for education. The public school system has to pass dummies because of the "NO CHILD LEFT BEHIND" statutes.

At last a voice of reason. We'll find out today if the senate heard it!

The price of gas and new vehicles is making me glad I don't drive. I mean, I wish I did, but I'm far more concerned with life's other great robbery right now - finding a property to live in!

The tabloid press are awash with news of London house prices in freefall: good! Make it a buyers' market, and I can maybe get myself a nice two-bed near good transport links.

Still, I don't get why the big 3 need to re-tool their shops to match the shift in demand. Sounds like bullshit to me.
