Default WTF is wrong with some people?!

CINCINNATI - Police arrested a woman after she allegedly left four children alone inside a car while going shopping. Officers said that Kelly Crossty, 21, has been charged with child endangerment due to the incident.

Crossty left the children in the car with the windows rolled down before she shopped at the Northgate Mall, police said.

The children range in age from 7 months to 9 years old.

Officers said the temperature outside the car was nearing 91 degrees at the time.

I know, right?

It was over 90 degrees. Even with the windows down, it was too hot for a little kid to be in a car, much less an infant. Furthermore, a sicko could have come along and snatched on of her children.

I tell you this...stupid people sure are fertile.

Although I agree that it is never a good idea to leave children alone in a car unattended, I do think that jayppee (and others who have responded to this story) are over reacting. Even though it may have been 91 degrees outside, the windows of the car were rolled down, so the children were not trapped in the car (such as in the case of Brenda Slaby, the teacher who left her baby locked in the car while she went to work and the baby died) and there was also a 9 year old in the car who is old enough to attend to the sibblings for a short period of time. Also, it is unclear how long Ms Crossty was in the mall (or how long she planned on being in the mall) before the police found the children in her car. I think there are some more questions that need to be answered before we condemn this lady to hell.

I have to agree with the others. Although we don't know how long Crossty was in the mall, it was enough time for someone to do harm to the children. It only takes a matter of seconds for someone to kill. Also, I don't feel that a nine year old should be left in charge of a 7 month old baby.

I have a lot of relatives that you would disapprove of.

What is most troubling about this whole thing is that for years now "do gooders," citizens and others have been on the look out for just this kind of thing around the nation. I thought by now, everyone, everywhere knew you just can't do that anymore. As J P said, Stupid does seem to be fertile.

Actually, as an adult, I know not to leave a child unattended. I don't go shopping and leave my child alone in a car, no matter what the weather, because I am concerned about his safety.

Secondly, a 7 month old baby is not as physically-capable of withstanding more extreme temperatures as an older child would be. If there were an emergency, not all 9-year-olds are going to know what to do.

I don't think I have to know all the details to know that shopping at the mall is not a valid reason to leave children unattended.
