Quotes....
|
|
"If I have a cup of coffee that is too strong for me because it is too black, I weaken it by pouring cream into it. I integrate it with cream. If I keep pouring enough cream in the coffee, pretty soon the entire flavor of the coffee is changed; the very nature of the coffee is changed. If enough cream is poured in, eventually you don't even know that I had coffee in this cup. This is what happened with the March on Washington. The whites didn't integrate it; they infiltrated it. Whites joined it; they engulfed it; they became so much a part of it, it lost its original flavor. It ceased to be a black march; it ceased to be militant; it ceased to be angry; it ceased to be impatient. In fact, it ceased to be a march."
MALCOLM X on the March on Washington

I have a small book of Malcolm X quotes and a lot of his stuff was very conservative. "Pull yourself up by your bootstraps" kind of stuff. I'm thinking X would be an Independant. LOL

Sounds G O P from that quote!
You know Malcolm came along during a time of great orators, himself, Dr King, Muhammad Ali, Minister Farahkhan, and others, just to name a few. Certainly everyone didn't agree with the messages, but damn these guys had a way of saying it!

CARTER G. WOODSON
If a race has no history, if it has no worthwhile tradition, it becomes a negligible factor in the thought of the world, and it stands in danger of being exterminated

MARCUS GARVEY
Chance has never yet satisfied the hope of a suffering people
I have no desire to take all black people back to Africa; there are blacks who are no good here and will likewise be no good there.
There is no force like success, and that is why the individual makes all effort to surround himself throughout life with the evidence of it; as of the individual, so should it be of the nation.

love any and all quotes by Garvey.... and this one made me do a double take:
Quote:
"I will say then that I am not, nor ever have been in favor of bringing about in anyway the social and political equality of the white and black races - that I am not nor ever have been in favor of making voters or jurors of negroes, nor of qualifying them to hold office, nor to intermarry with white people; and I will say in addition to this that there is a physical
difference between the white and black races which I believe will forever forbid the two races living together on terms of social and political equality.
And inasmuch as they cannot so live, while they do remain together there must be the position of superior and inferior, and I as much as any other man am in favor of having the superior position assigned to the white race.
I say upon this occasion I do not perceive that because the white man is to have the superior position the negro should be denied everything."

care to guess who said this?
