Default Censorship?

When schools ban certain books is that censorship? What about meeting kids where they’re at?

This is a teacher with damn near 30 years experience who was trying to inspire her students. Stories like this are no wonder it’s difficult to keep good teachers who actually give a damn.

IMO, the school board was wrong for being a bunch of sticks in the mud and "banning" the book. But the teacher was also wrong for acting against the specific instruction of her superiors. That's not the way to fight this battle.

I agree you have to meet kids where they’re at. Teaching is not a one size fits all job.
