Why Do You Have Kids?

Please confine any comments here to honesty. Are you a parent on purpose? Are your kids "accidents?" Are you simply making the most of what you were blessed with?Has the apple of your eye made you a grand mama or pappy at the ripe ol age of. lets say, under 30?

Come on now, be honest, WHY DO YOU HAVE KIDS?

Because I LIKED sex (back then), and that's what happens when you do the horizontal bop on a consistent basis without birth control! DUH!

Honestly, I didn't want kids, but slept in the bed I made. That's why I only have one child by birth, the rest are steps, or strays.

We were married 6 years before my son was born. We talked about having a child but, made no real effort at having one. I was consulting at the time and had come home after being in Atlanta that week. It was early afternoon and one of my wife's best friends was there with her. My wife was looking upset and I thought something horrible had happened. Her friend left and my wife proceeded to tell me the "news".

For some reason, I guess she thought I would be upset, thus why she had that look on her face. I hugged her and told her how happy I was (truthfully, I was scared as hell, too). So, yes, my son was unplanned but, 5 years later he is becoming quite the young man.

The next will be "planned" though -- the next child is going to be adopted.

The princess was unplanned but a happy surprise. I didn't really plan on having kids of my own but adopting or being a foster mom. I thought there were to many kids in the system not to want to help take care of them.

My husband and I tried for two years to have kids, so when I finally got pregnant, we were ecstatic. Of course, we had no idea WHEN it would happen, so I guess one could say that in a way, the kids were unplanned but they were not an accident since we were trying. *smiles*
