this forum is amazing. thank you for all your suggestions. i consulted my brother-in-law about my situation. he too is suffering the same problem. he recommended me a product called Pain Free Easy Shave which is specialized for this kind of problem. so far i'm pretty happy with the results.

will try not to shave against the grain this time. or possibly grow a goatee but i don't know if i could pull that one off.
